Annual Children’s Poetry Contest

Meet Contest Judge, Maryam Chida

Maryam Chida works in the children’s department at a public library. She also serves as the Chief Editor at Starboard Press, perusing submissions and improving the quality of our publications. Maryam is a student of history and is enthusiastic about colonial history. Two of her favorite children’s books are Anne of Green Gables and The Birchbark House. Her hobbies include Taekwondo, crochet and baking.

Entry Categories
Poems will be judged in two categories based on ages of contestants:
- 5 – 8
- 9 – 12
Entry Fee
- None. The children’s poetry contest is free.
Eligibility
- Contestants must be 12 years and under
- Poems must be the original work(s) of the author
- Poems submitted must not be previously published in another journal
How to Submit
Prizes
- For each category:
- Cash prize of $25 for the First Place winner with certificate of award
- Second place winner will receive $15 with certificate of award
- Third place winner will receive $10 with certificate of award
- Additional poems will be selected as Honorable Mentions
Results
- Results will be available in the second week of October
- Authors of winning entries will be notified by email
